Bright Film Journal

Editorial policy

Bright Film Journal aims to make film writing clear, accurate and open about the difference between what a film shows and what a viewer may infer. Our editorial choices are guided by usefulness to readers and close attention to the work itself.

Accuracy and interpretation

We check factual details against suitable sources when a piece makes claims about film history, production or terminology. Interpretations are presented as readings, not as facts about a filmmaker's intentions unless those intentions are clearly documented. We revise wording when evidence or a reader's careful correction shows that it needs attention.

Independence

Editorial decisions remain separate from commercial arrangements. A partnership does not guarantee coverage, a favourable view or control over our conclusions. We do not present promotional claims as independent editorial judgment.

Corrections

Readers can send corrections through the Contact page. We review specific, checkable concerns and update material when an error is confirmed. Where a correction changes the substance of a piece, we aim to make the change clear to readers.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid, supplied or otherwise partner-supported material is identified clearly at the point where readers encounter it. Partner links and placements are labelled so they are not mistaken for editorial recommendations. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where used, they are identified as illustrative rather than documentary.
