Write for us
Bright Film Journal welcomes pitches that help readers see screen storytelling with fresh eyes. We are interested in clear, original ideas about film craft, genre, narrative and the details that make a screen world work.
What to pitch
Send a focused proposal about one subject, such as a storytelling convention, an element of film form or a useful way to compare screen choices. A good pitch explains the central question, why it matters to a general reader and what the piece will help them notice. Original analysis is welcome; unsupported claims about intent are not.
How to send it
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option to share a pitch. Include a working title, a short outline and a few lines about your approach. Please do not send a complete article unless it has been requested. We cannot promise publication, a particular response time or payment terms through this invitation.
A useful fit
We look for writing that is specific, readable and attentive to the film rather than padded with jargon. A strong contribution gives readers a clear idea to carry into their next viewing and makes its distinctions between evidence and interpretation easy to follow.
